A small fire broke out this Thursday at noon, surprising customers and employees of the El Capiro service station, which belongs to the CIMEX corporation, in the city of Santa Clara, Villa Clara province.
The fire originated on the roof of the building, where the compressor of the store's air conditioning system caught fire. Forces from Command Number Three of the Fire Department arrived at the scene and were able to extinguish the flames in about half an hour.
During the incident, employees and customers were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
ACN reported that no injuries or significant damage were reported, although the area remains under security while material damage and conditions for resuming service are evaluated.
Witnesses reported that the smoke was visible from several nearby locations, causing alarm among those passing through the area.
Local authorities are investigating the exact causes of the fire and have stated that safety measures will remain in place until the stability of the establishment's electrical and climate control systems is guaranteed. The service station is closed until further notice.
