Miami is getting ready to experience one of the most significant sporting moments in its recent history with seven matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026 taking place in the City of the Sun, a setting that promises to thrill the large Cuban and Latino community residing in South Florida.

The national teams of Uruguay, Brazil, and Colombia, which are closely followed in Miami due to their historic fan bases and cultural ties, will be featured in the official tournament schedule, as reported by FIFA on its official page.

The governing body of world football announced that the chosen stadium, officially named Miami Stadium in the organization's communication, although globally known as Hard Rock Stadium, will host four group stage matches, a round of 16 match, a quarterfinal, and the third place match of the championship.

The World Cup debut in Miami will be on June 15, when Saudi Arabia faces Uruguay in a Group H clash. The Uruguayans will return to the same field on June 21, this time against Cape Verde. Brazil, one of the teams that draws significant crowds in Miami, will take on Scotland on June 24, while Colombia will have an enticing match against Portugal on June 27.

With a capacity of 65,000 spectators, Hard Rock Stadium is one of the most modern and versatile venues in the United States. Inaugurated in 1987 and completely renovated in 2016, it has hosted Super Bowls, large concerts, Formula 1 races, the Miami Open tennis tournament, and recently, several matches of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.

Its location in Miami Gardens, an area with a strong Latin and Caribbean presence, makes it a strategic point for welcoming fans from across the region.

The World Cup schedule in Florida will continue with a Round of 16 match on July 3, followed by the quarter-finals on July 11. Finally, the stadium will host the bronze medal match on July 18, one of the most anticipated encounters for the international fans.

For Miami, a city that is home to one of the largest Cuban communities outside the island, this World Cup represents much more than just soccer; it is an opportunity to showcase its diversity, cultural strength, and Latin American identity to the world.

The teams from the region, which have historically filled stadiums in the United States, will once again turn the city into a gathering place for thousands of fans.

According to FIFA, this World Cup will be the largest in history, featuring 48 teams and 104 matches spread across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

The final of the FIFA World Cup 2026 will be held on July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium, located in East Rutherford, New Jersey, which is the venue with the highest capacity among all the U.S. locations.
