The President of the United States, Donald Trump, asserted this Sunday that he has "resolved eight wars in ten months," in a new public defense of his presidential authority to impose tariffs and unilateral measures under the argument of national security.
The statement was published on Truth Social, where Trump argued that the current methods for imposing tariffs against countries that “have taken advantage of the United States for years” are more straightforward, faster, and effective than traditional mechanisms.
“At this moment, the world is witnessing the strength of American determination,” wrote the leader.
"I have resolved eight wars in ten months thanks to the clearly granted rights to the President of the United States," he added.
The message comes amid the debate on the constitutionality of the unilateral tariffs imposed by the government, a case currently being examined by the Supreme Court.
Trump insisted that his trade policy model aims to ensure "speed, power, and certainty," factors which he believes are essential for national security.
“If countries did not believe that these presidential rights exist, they would have stated it loud and clear,” wrote the leader, emphasizing that the speed in decision-making has been crucial for achieving “lasting and victorious results.”
The president argued that tariff measures not only strengthen the economy but also serve as tools of geopolitical pressure that have allowed for "the resolution of conflicts without the need to resort to war."
Since the beginning of his second term, Trump has claimed a broader role for the Executive in managing trade and foreign policy, arguing that presidents should act "decisively and without bureaucratic obstacles" to protect the interests of the country.
His statements come at a time of tension with some commercial partners and increasing questions about the scope of presidential powers regarding tariffs, which the Supreme Court itself is evaluating for its impact on the separation of powers.
The message, shared through his social media, reaffirms Trump's direct and combative style, as he has made the defense of presidential authority a central pillar of his administration.
In the domestic arena, Trump has also supported high-impact political decisions. He promised to deliver $2,000 checks to millions of Americans before the end of the year, a measure presented as “patriotic economic relief” and designed to bolster his popularity among sectors affected by inflation and the impacts of his trade policy.
In parallel, it has made decisions aimed at mitigating strategic trade tensions. It ordered the elimination of tariffs on key products such as meat, coffee, and tropical fruits, in what was defined as a "controlled opening" to benefit consumers and small businesses without compromising national security.
These decisions illustrate how tariff policy is used both as a negotiation tool and as a means of internal political compensation.
