A strong concern arose in Bayamo following the public report of an alleged case of child abuse, shared by the user Yonimiler Del Río Polo on Facebook.

The post, which quickly went viral, exposes the situation of a girl who, according to the reporter, is being beaten by her own father.

The most striking material of the post is a video showing the minor with visible marks of violence on her face, recounting to a woman that her father first attacked her with a belt and then with his hand.

The girl explains that the beating occurred after she said she was hungry and asked for a little soda, a testimony that has provoked widespread outrage.

In his message, Del Río Polo stated that the minor was placed under the custody of the father - identified as Niorgel Bruzuela - after the mother left the country heading to Guyana.

To protect the child's identity, the reporter omitted her name, explaining that his intention was to spare her from potential future consequences such as harassment or stigma.

The report also includes the address where the alleged aggressor lives: Calle 14, between 26 de Julio and 19, Ciro Redondo neighborhood, Bayamo, and urges the public to share the information so that the authorities can intervene urgently.

"This cannot go unpunished," wrote Yonimiler.

A case that adds to an alarming string of reports

The seriousness of the case arises in a national context already marked by multiple recent reports of child abuse, similarly spread on social media, which have compelled authorities to intervene.

Last week, in Cienfuegos, residents of the popular council San Lázaro raised the alarm when a two-year-old child revealed that his own mother had burned him with coffee.

Another video revealed that the woman had also burned her other two children with hot water.

The mother, identified as Marlenis Cosme Nodal, is under investigation, and the minors have been placed under the supervision of state entities such as the Ministry of the Interior, the Prosecutor's Office, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

The case sparked a debate about the limits and responsibilities of using social media to report abuse: while these platforms help to highlight real dangers, they can also unnecessarily expose minors if caution is not exercised.

Another recent incident occurred in Ceballos, Ciego de Ávila, where a shocking video disturbed the nation: a mother was brutally beating her young daughter, who was tied up in a yard, while another person recorded the abuse without intervening.

The woman was identified as Elizabeth González Díaz, known for having a history of violence according to neighborhood testimonies.

The case forced the children to be moved to a home for minors without family support, while the mother and stepfather face charges for "Other Acts Contrary to the Comprehensive Development of Minors."

A growing problem with deep roots

Child protection specialists insist that child maltreatment in Cuba has deep cultural roots, where the use of violence as a method of discipline is still normalized in many households.

Factors such as poverty, stress, alcoholism, and domestic violence often exacerbate the risk.

The latest statistics raise alarm: from January to August 2025, hospitals in Matanzas treated four minors who were victims of abuse, surpassing the three cases recorded throughout 2024.

The incident that occurred in Bayamo is not an isolated event, but rather an additional piece of evidence of a troubling situation.

The public demands swift answers and decisive actions to protect the child and ensure that the authorities clarify the facts and act with responsibility and transparency.

In the meantime, the community continues to share the case on social media, hoping that this time the intervention will arrive in time.
