Authorities in Cienfuegos are investigating an alleged case of child abuse that has raised significant concern on social media and among the neighbors of the San Lázaro Popular Council, where the minors supposedly affected reside.
The case was initially reported through digital platforms after a child of approximately two years old told a neighbor that his mom burned him with coffee and showed her his back covered in blisters.
In another video circulating on social media, another neighbor claims that the woman burned the three children with hot water.
The woman who recorded the incident posted it on social media, which helped raise awareness about a possible situation of physical abuse and neglect towards three children, allegedly by their mother, identified as Marlenis Cosme Nodal.

According to the original publication from the official profile Las Cosas de Fernanda, the report was immediately forwarded to the competent authorities, who are already taking action on the ground.
According to that source, the police forces, the Prosecutor's Office, the Department of Minors of the Ministry of the Interior, the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security are working together to clarify the events and ensure the safety of minors.
The case has reopened the debate on citizen responsibility and the ethical use of social media in reporting instances of abuse.
While digital platforms can help highlight social issues, experts warn that the public exposure of minors can increase risks and lead to irreparable consequences.
So far, the results of the investigation and the condition of the minors have not been disclosed, but authorities assure that they are under supervision and temporary protection.
This case brings back to the forefront the urgency of strengthening family education, community surveillance, and child protection policies in Cuba, a country where social services and response mechanisms have shown serious deficiencies in recent years.
