Cuba has released Spanish businessman P. H., who had been detained for several weeks, following a meeting between Foreign Minister Miguel Ángel Moratinos and regime leader Raúl Castro, reports Radio Nacional. The engineer, who was accused of corruption, will not be allowed to leave the island, according to Radio Nacional's special envoy to Havana, Rafael Bermejo. Moratinos personally took an interest in this case and met with the detainee's wife as soon as he arrived on the island on Sunday. The news of his release was announced right after a nearly three-hour meeting between the head of Spanish diplomacy and the Cuban president, during which Moratinos promised to advocate for Cuba before the European Union when he takes over the rotating presidency next semester.
