Artist Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara has been released

Otero intends to continue his journey to the church of El Rincón to pray for the freedom of Cuba.

This Sunday, the authorities of the Island released the artist Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, detained since last Thursday at the Aguilera station in Lawton. Several of his friends have confirmed the news on social media and mentioned that Otero intends to continue his route to the church of El Rincón to pray for the freedom of Cuba.

According to a message from his girlfriend Yanelys Nuñez Leyva, shared this morning on her Facebook profile, the officers on duty at the PNR station in Aguilera, Lawton, did not know the reason for this detention.

"Luis Manuel has not been allowed to call any of his family members. According to police information, he remains in the cell with the stone of pilgrimage tied to his ankle, he explained."

Otero had been missing since Wednesday night without a trace, when he was starting the pilgrimage to the church of El Rincón de San Lázaro with a friend.

Hours later, the friend was released, and then it became possible to know the whereabouts of the artist, the focus of attention for the Cuban State Security since he decided to organize an independent Biennial on the Island.
