
MEXICO CITY, July 27 (Reuters) - Mexico's government pledged on Saturday to help Honduras create 20,000 jobs this year and support its coffee producers, as both nations seekstop growing migration to the United States which has caused tensions with President Donald Trump.
The Mexican president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, did not give details of his proposals, but said that the assistance programs he has promoted in his country to create jobs through apprenticeship programs for youth and tree planting would also be applied in Honduras.
"We are going to support Honduras in everything we can," said López Obrador, during an event in which he was accompanied by his counterpart.honduran, Juan Orlando Hernandez.
The Mexican president also promised to help Honduran coffee growers, whose businesses have suffered this year from a drop in international grain prices.
"We are going to support improving coffee production in everything that is required, from genetic development to marketing and reviewing the issue of tariffs, so that you do not have any problems selling coffee," he said.
