Celenia Romero, 59 years old and resident of the San Luis municipality of Pinar del Río, was discharged from hospital after recovering from thecoronavirus, which led to her being admitted to the León Cuervo Rubio Hospital since April 23.
"When I arrive, the first thing I will do is hug my children. I haven't seen them in 15 days and I miss them so much," she said excitedly in statements collected by theGuerrilla Newspaper.
This neighbor from the El Corojo Popular Council was in serious, critical and critical condition for several days due to lack of air, "intercostal indrawing and disorders of consciousness."
"I feel grateful because they (the doctors) saved my life," she explained after leaving the hospital on the afternoon of May 6.
This tobacco threader was admitted to the Abel Santamaría Cuadrado hospital at the end of last March for pneumonia. He received treatment with antibiotics, had aPCR testwhich came back negative, so the doctors decided he could return home.
However, a few weeks later she would be hospitalized again "with bronchopneumonia" that led to respiratory failure.
A second PCR test was performed, which was positive, but the authorities did not specify the source of infection at that time. She was transferred to the León Cuervo Rubio hospital, where all confirmed cases in Pinar del Río are treated.
Dr. Daniesky Dopico Ravelo, vice director of medical care at this health facility, assured that Celenia arrived in a state of hypoglycemia.
"We had to regulate her treatment since she had decompensated diabetes. The patient also had a history of high blood pressure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease," he told the aforementioned media.
Celenia recalled that she spent several years in intensive care, but now her only wish is to "hug" her children.
On Thursday, for the tenth consecutive day, the province ofPinar del Río did not add any cases to the list of those infected by coronavirus in Cuba.
The last cases in the Pinar del Río territory were detected on April 26, when two infected people were reported in the Guane municipality.
On that occasion, those infected were identified as two Cuban women, 48 and 52 years old, respectively, both contacts of other previously confirmed cases.
The Government of Cuba reported on Thursday that26 new cases of coronavirus were registered in the country, which adds up to a total of 1,729 officially confirmed.
