The Cuban violinistLuis Alberto Mariño Fernández, who has beenprotesting with music and posters in support of the San Isidro Movement in front of the Cuban embassy in Argentina, decided begin a fast and vow of silence.

"Given the pain of knowing that every hour can be fatal for the lives of all the strikers, especially for those who are on a thirst strike, and the helplessness of seeing the faint flame of democratic solidarity, I declare that:I will begin a food fast, with a vow of silence and standing in front of the Cuban Embassy in Argentina, day and night", he reported on his social networks.

Mariño Fernández maintained that he will remain in this form of protest in front of the Cuban embassy in Buenos Aires "without leaving there until he receives the news that our brothers are out of danger and that Denis Solís, unjustly sentenced to 8 months in prison for contempt, is free with them."

"I clarify that I will not go on a hunger strike, but rather a fast and a sit-in in solidarity with those who have planted themselves in the San Isidro neighborhood in Havana, which I will extend as far as my strength gives, and I will try to play the viola, listen the soundscape, sing and pray continuously so that this situation does not lead to a fatal loss," he said.

The musician stressed that he will be "demonstrating from the most absolute non-violence, exercising my right of expression and demonstration, a right that cannot be exercised by the strikers who continue to receive harassment and police violence in Cuba."

Likewise, he apologized to his family because "I know this is very difficult for them, to my co-workers because I will not be able to fulfill my commitments these days, and to all my students."

"I ask you all to understand that our brothers are in a dramatic situation caused by the excessive violence and arbitrariness of the Cuban regime," he stressed.

The violinist reiterated that "the objective is to ensure that international solidarity acts so that Denis Solís is immediately released."

Shortly after announcing his fast and vow of silence, Mariño denounced on his social networks that an alleged federal police officer who refused to identify himself had told him: "You have to get out of here now."

"He doesn't answer me who he is, he tells me that I have to leave. I explained to him that I have been here playing for a week and that both the Federal Police and the Buenos Aires Police have told me that I am within my rights. They have only asked me to I played the violin until 9:00 at night for the neighbors. I stayed with them for that," he explained in a live interview.
