The Cuban artist and political prisonerLuis Manuel Otero Alcántara, who is serving a five-year prison sentence, sent a moving message of resistance from prison.
"From the Guanajay prison in Cuba, he shares a message for all the people who fight for their freedom and reminds us why he continues to fight," said Amnesty International Americas on its Twitter account, where the activist's words can be heard.
"Share his message and demand from Díaz-Canel freedom for Luis Manuel and a Cuba without repression," the organization asked.
Otero Alcántara begins by saying that nothing will take away his drive and that he will not leave his work unfinished.
"I struggle because when I close my eyes in deep sleep my soul goes out to walk with my loved ones; be careful, in two years in prison I have never had a nightmare. So nothing has stoned the gifts of creation," he expressed.
The leader of the San Isidro Movement (MSI) stated that he still retains the taste of the last kiss he received on July 11, 2021. That day, when he went out to join the massive protests against the regime, he was arrested.
"I insist on the fight because despite the shortage, the residents of San Isidro send me packages of sausages to feed me here in prison," he stressed.
