A woman died this Tuesday afternoon after an accident in which a motorcycle and a truck were involved on a highway in the province of Camagüey, between Martí and Guáimaro.
Although the truck ended up overturned in the ditch and the motorcycle does not show major damage, according to images published on social networks, the woman who died was traveling on the motorcycle as a passenger.
In the Facebook group Bus & Truck Accidents, various users who witnessed the accident explained that the truck driver tried to avoid the motorcycle and in that attempt he left the road, which was very narrow because it was a secondary road.
“I was there...I was the first to arrive. The woman died with me and my nurse friend, who was with me, trying to revive her,” wrote a user identified on Facebook as Reinier Lazo, who shared an image and explained that he lifted the engine off the ground, which was leaking gasoline on the road.
The exact state of health of the motorcycle driver is unknown; some say he is injured and others say he also died. CyberCuba Witnesses to the accident have been contacted to obtain more information.
The driver of the heavy vehicle did not suffer serious injuries and would be detained, according to a report from a colleague.
Another truck driver insisted on explaining that it was not the truck driver's fault, and argued that the motorist “was coming in a zig zag” and that the truck driver, no matter how much he tried to avoid him, was not successful.

In recent months, several traffic accidents have been reported in Cuba in which motorcycle drivers have been involved. In June, aArticulated bus hit a motorcycle in Havana, on the corner of 23 and J in El Vedado. Although the motorcyclist was dragged several meters after the collision with the bus, he managed to leave the scene on his own two feet.

In 2020, 605 traffic accidents occurred in Cuba, according to official data, the figure represents 158 fewer accidents than the 763 counted in 2019.
