Miami International Airport (MIA) registered on November 28more than 164,000 passengers, which meantthe busiest travel day in its entire history.

The terminal served a total of 3.9 million travelers that month, six percent more than the 3.67 million in the same period of 2019, demonstrating growth that has not occurred since the beginning of the pandemic.

"For the first time since February 2020, MIA served more passengers in one month than the same month in 2019," the facility noted in a press release on its website.website.

According to the publication, this growth was possible thanks to "the increase in demand, the extension of airline schedules and the fact that the government ofThe United States allows the entry of vaccinated non-US citizens starting November 8."

Daniella Levine Cava, Mayor of Miami-Dade, expressed her pride in how the county achieved protection against the virus so that it can now safely open its doors and welcome vacation visitors.

"It's exciting to see MIA full of travelers and growing again 20 months after the start of the pandemic. It's clear that the travel record month of November shows that Miami-Dade County is more popular than ever as a tourist destination, and that the MIA is growing even more as a global center and as an economic engine for our community," he said.

November 28, 2021, the busiest day in the history of Miami Airfield, was the first Sunday after Thanksgiving, which this year was celebrated on November 25.

Contributing to this record were the numbers of people who traveled during the 12 days around this holiday, between November 19 and 30, when 1.7 million passengers were counted, 14 percent more than in November 2019.

Also the companies American Airlines, Spirit Airlines and Frontier Airlines, among the five with the most passenger traffic in the MIA, have increased their operations.

The first now has 378 daily departures, while the second added 19 destinations from the aerodrome and Frontier expanded to 36 national and international destinations on direct flights from the Miami airport.

Ralph Cutié, CEO of the MIA, thanked the airlines, concessionaires and service providers for their support and announced that they are ready "for the busy winter travel season ahead."

The last month of the year is expected to have an average daily departure of almost 12 percent more than December 2019.
