Chain Univision has just announced its list of nominees for the Lo Nuestro Awards 2023 and the popular Cuban duo Local People won three nominations!
In this 35th edition of the awards Alexander Delgado and Randy Malcom they sneaked into the categories Tropical Artist of the Year, Tropical Year Collaboration and Tropical Album Of The Year.
“My people today we woke up with the super news that we are nominated three times for Premios Lo Nuestro ¡Cuba en la casa!” reads the profile on the group's Instagram.
Gente de Zona competes with Carlos Vives, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Juan Luis Guerra, Luis Figueroa, Marc Anthony, Olga Tañón, Prince Royce, Romeo Santos and Víctor Manuelle in the tropical artist section.
The disc From Lowest to Highest of People of the Area earned a nomination for Tropical Album Of The Year competing with nine other productions including Cumbiana II by Carlos Vives and Pa'lla I go by Marc Anthony.
The topic “El Negrito” by the Cubans and Carlos Vives, included on this album and released last April, is the song nominated for Collaboration of the Tropical Year.
In addition to Gente de Zona, Cuban Camila Cabello is also among the nominees for the Lo Nuestro Awards 2023 in two of the 39 categories: Female Pop Artist Of The Year and The Perfect Mix of the Year, the latter for her song “Oh Na Na” in collaboration with Myke Towers & Tainy.
The awards gala will take place next February 23 at the Miami-Dade Arena in Florida, hosted by Alejandra Espinoza, Sebastián Yatra, Adrián Uribe and Paulina Rubio, and will be broadcast live on Univision.
In the last edition of the awards Gente de Zona and Ovi were in charge of closing the night singing their collaboration "Qué loca".
In 2021 the artists were also among the nominees for Artist of the Year Tropical and Collaboration of the Year Pop.
