Yudel López Álvarez, a 41-year-old Cuban, was murdered and then dismembered to steal an electric tricycle in the province of Camagüey.
As stated a close relative to the independent media Cuban Diary, Álvarez was intercepted by two men when leaving his workplace on the tricycle, who stabbed him until he lost strength.
Then, the victim was dismembered and his remains were thrown into a river inside a bag with heavy objects.
Thanks to a complaint published by the victim's family on social networks, the authorities were able to find the murderers.
“We were able to find out how the events happened because we published a photo of him on social networks as missing along with the electric tricycle. Then a person from the Vertientes municipality commented that they offered that vehicle to sell and we reported it to the Vertientes Police, who set up an operation and captured the main suspects, who confessed the modus operandi," the relative explained to Cuban Diary.
Publications on the networks They mourned the death of Álvarez and made public the mourning that those closest to them were going through.
"Yesterday, unfortunately, family and friends suffered the loss of a wonderful human being, human in every sense, my cousin Yudel López Álvarez, was found deceased in Camagüey by two scumbags, two rotten souls without a heart, without feelings, without knowing that they were leaving a family destroyed,” he lamented on Facebook Luity Álvarez Díaz.
Recently, residents in Camagüey warned of the increase in theft of electric motorcycles in that territory, a situation that according to frequent complaints is also reported in other areas of the country.
“Be very CAREFUL with unscrupulous beings who, instead of doing good for society, are dedicating themselves to assaulting people in Motorinas,” warned a post in the Facebook group “BUS & TRUCK ACCIDENTS, for more experience and fewer victims!”
Internet user Dory Pérez stated that for assaults “the time doesn't even matter anymore, it doesn't matter at dawn when it's barely dark.”
Last week it emerged in Cuba the murder of a man in Havana to steal his car. The police arrested the alleged perpetrators days after.
Also a bus was robbed of the tourist transport company Transtur on a road in Ciego de Ávila.
Last Sunday they found the corpse of a Cuban-American businessman founder of a MSME on the island that had disappeared on Wednesday of the previous week. Relatives confirmed to CyberCuba that they killed the man to rob him.
It recently happened in the Chibás district of Havana an assault with guns.
Several electric motorcycles have been recovered in various operations since last year, when the theft of these increased in the context of the general crisis that the country is experiencing.
