The Electrical Union of Cuba announced blackouts for this Thursday throughout the country, when the first 24 hours have not yet elapsed since the 10th Legislature of the National Assembly of People's Power was constituted andwill ratify Miguel Díaz-Canel as president of the Republic.

The deficit for this day will be 590 MW, during the night peak hours, a situation similar to that of the previous day, when there were impacts for almost 15 hours.

Unit 3 of the Cienfuegos thermoelectric plant, units 1 and 2 of Felton and 3 of Rente remain out of service due to breakdowns. Unit 3 of Santa Cruz, the "Antonio Guiteras" plant, unit 4 of Cienfuegos and units 4 and 6 of Renté are under maintenance.

"For peak hours, the entry of Puerto Escondido with 10 MW is estimated, the entry of Rente unit 3 with 70 MW (in the startup process) and the recovery of 100 MW of distributed generation engines [generating equipment," they said. through a statement.

Although officially the blackouts are due to the inability to generate the electrical energy that the country demands, a situation associated with plant breakdowns, some citizens link the crisis with the gasoline shortage throughout the countryand the problems of acquiring fuel in the international market.

However,The government maintains that thermoelectric plants run on national crude oil, with a high sulfur index and one of the reasons why power plants deteriorate more quickly.

Cuban civil society criticizes the communist regime for not carrying out correct planning based on the benefits of citizens, and wasting resources, instead, like this Wednesday at the Convention Palace in Havana, where hundreds of people gathered to constitute the National Assembly.

While the lights and air conditioners in that room remained on,companies and state entities are prohibited from using most of their electrical equipment or important industries must remain closed, in order to save electricity, a situation that worsens the shortage and intensifies the low levels of production.
