The Cuban police arrested a man who stole 25 cartons of eggs from a warehouse in the Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood, in the municipality of Holguín.
According to the profile ofFacebook "Naked Rustlers", linked to the Ministry of the Interior, the incident occurred last week, when a man carried out a violent robbery in the warehouse located on Calle Real and stole the eggs from the basic basket of dozens of families.
The subject was identified as Ángel Arturo Diéguez Labrada.
"According to basic Mathematics approximately: 25 trays x 30 eggs each, is equal to 750 units. If those 750 eggs are sold at abusive prices, for example, 50 pesos. This Ángel would be pocketing nothing more and nothing less than : 37,500 pesos," the note states.
The thief also took the weight from the warehouse, which was recovered.
Also this week, another individual who robbed two warehouses in Guantánamo was arrested.
Eider Caraballo Vera was captured red-handed when he was inside a warehouse located in the town of Acopio in the Manuel Tames municipality, after having forced the shutter.
"As part of the investigative process, this citizen acknowledges being the author of another robbery with force in that same warehouse," said the user ofFacebook Edwin Levis Revolution.
From January to the end of May, there have been361 robberies have occurred in Cuban wineries, and the products that are stolen the most are rice, beans, powdered milk, coffee, refined vegetable oil, sugars, soaps and cigarettes.
According to Betsy Díaz Velázquez, Minister of Domestic Trade, the figure decreases by 66 compared to the end of 2022, although theft increased in the provinces of Pinar del Río. Matanzas, Sancti Spíritus, Camagüey, Las Tunas and Holguín.
Last week news broke of arobbery in a Granma winery, in the mountainous town of El Bombón, from the Guisa municipality. The police captured the thieves and returned the food to the warehouse.
At the beginning of the month,three subjects robbed a winery in the Cienfuegos town of Aguada de Pasajeros and they took the errands of the regulated basic basket.
A man on duty warned police about the robbery. The three citizens forced a window of the establishment to enter.
A few days before, residents of Luyanó, in the Havana municipality of Diez de Octubre, reported that in thebutcher shop on Santa Ana and Villanueva streets stole the eggs of the quota.
