The Cuban regime inaugurated this Monday the Havana International Fair FIHAV 2023, whereMiguel Diaz-Canel boasted of having the participation of60 countries and 800 companies.

"We inaugurated FIHAV 2023 and then toured the exhibition pavilions of several countries participating in the event. They add up here60 nations that have opted for Cuba and about 800 companies. "This is a great opportunity to continue promoting the development of the national economy," the president said on Twitter.

Criticism did not take long to reach Díaz-Canel because in the midst of the current economic crisis, many people do not trust that this fair can mean real business opportunities for Cuba and much less that these businesses will translate into benefits for the population.

A Twitter user rebuked the president, asking him to explain "who would bet on a country that neither produces nor pays anything?" The question refers to the debt that Cuba has with different companies and governments, particularly with its great allies Russia and China.

Another person asked the president how it is possible that Cuba can do business with so many countries. If so, this is "excellent news" because now in the government "They won't be able to blame the US Trade Embargo of the shortcomings of the Cubans".

There were also those who contrasted the images of opulence that the regime shows on social networks to attract tourism and business in Cuba, against the reality that the people suffer, marked by deprivation andthe increase in poverty.

The government ofMiguel Diaz-Canel He is desperately seeking economic alliances that will allow him to remain in power. Each strategy they draw up leads the people to more poverty, more repression and fewer freedoms.

While FIHAV 2023 is taking place, the Prime MinisterManuel Marrero is on tour in China and Belarus trying to close trade agreements with those allied governments.
