The Institute of Meteorology (INSMET) of Cuba announced the arrival of a new cold front to the west of the island this Wednesday, January 10.

In a special report, the entity said that the meteorological phenomenon will affect the west of the country with rains, which will be scarce in the center and east, except for Villa Clara and Cienfuegos where they will be isolated in the afternoon.

This meteorological phenomenon is expected to cause significant changes in weather conditions from dawn, which will be mostly cloudy in the west with some isolated showers and thunderstorms.

The weather report for Wednesday indicates that minimum temperatures will be between 19 and 22 degrees Celsius, lower in some localities in the interior of the eastern region and higher in coastal areas.

In the afternoon, maximum temperatures will have values between 26 and 29 degrees Celsius in the western region, between 29 and 32 degrees Celsius in the rest of the Cuban territory, higher in the east.

In the center and east of the country, high clouds will predominate for much of the day, with little rain, except in Cienfuegos and Villa Clara, where isolated rains will be recorded in the afternoon.

Meteorologist Raydel Ruisanchez said on his Facebook profile that this cold front is associated with the winter cyclone affecting the United States and has been generating severe weather in portions of the southeast of the country. In the center, especially in Iowa and Nebraska, severe snow storms have been reported since Monday.

Likewise in Florida, at least five tornadoes have been reported this Tuesday.

Ruisanchez points out that "Cuba is influenced by high pressures with more stable weather and somewhat warmer temperatures. In the western region, winds from the south bring some low cloudy weather with the occurrence of isolated showers."
