Eighteen homes have been reported, so far, with damage due to therains and floods that occurred on Monday in Havana, according to local media reports.

The roof of a family of two people in Central Havana was affected, as in Old Havana, a family of five people suffered a similar situation, the government of the capital indicated to the official newspaper.Havana Tribune.

They reported that these families have been transferred to places where they receive all the necessary care, although without detailing the care or the place where they are located.

Precisely, they asked to increase surveillance over these two municipalities, as they are the most affected, with the most damaged housing structure and the least recovered in Havana.

In the capital, every time there is heavy rain, some building in a deplorable state or in ruins collapses. The last rains, which occurred in December 2023, left a total of 28 landslides, according to preliminary reports from the government of the Cuban capital.

The collapses occurred in the municipalities of Central Havana, Diez de Octubre and Cerro; Of them, 17 were partial roof falls and 11 were type 1, although the note published on social networks does not explain the magnitude of the latter.

However, for the current rains,500 families self-evacuated in the neighborhoods of Santa Ana and Santa Fe, municipality of Playa.

In other areas, such as energy, water and commerce, apparently and in the voice of the leaders of the Cuban capital, they had no problems, as revealed in a meeting of the Temporary Working Group to analyze the measures and actions being carried out. with the aim of facing the meteorological situation.

The storm surges and intense rains reported this Monday on the coast of Havana caused flooding in the coastal strip of the capital that left images of the penetration of the sea associated with the arrival of a cold front to Cuba.

Low areas of the city such as El Vedado, which traditionally suffer the impact of the waves typical of these meteorological phenomena, once again witnessed floods that hinder car traffic and threaten the safety of homes and residents of the coastal area.

Malecón, Calle 1ra del Vedado, Calzada and even Avenida Línea were flooded or partially affecteds due to the surges, leaving the typical images that are usually seen when sea penetration occurs, as well as complaints from neighbors due to the indolence of the authorities who do not react to this situation that is repeated every year.
