Driver injured after hitting his bus against a truck in Mayabeque

The driver of a Girón bus was dazzled by the lights of a car that was traveling on the opposite path and did not see the Hino brand truck that was parked, completely turned off, on the main road of San Antonio de Río Blanco, in Jaruco.

He bus driver suffered minor injuries after crashing the vehicle into a truck early this Wednesday, in Jaruco, Mayabeque province.

According to one publication on social networks, on the main road of the town San Antonio de Río Blanco, the driver of a Girón bus was dazzled by the lights of a car that was traveling on the opposite lane and, because of this, he did not see the Hino brand truck that was parked on the road, completely turned off, and collided with the trailer.

“Minor injuries to the driver and material damage!” said user Alfredo Suárez in a post with photos showing both. crashed vehicles and the severe damage that the bus suffered on the front and right side.

A portion of the trailer was embedded in the front of the bus, and due to the strong collision, the windshield of the bus shattered and several parts of the metal structure were deformed.

In the comments, the author of the post clarified that parking is prohibited on the main roads, and assured that in the town where the accident occurred there are signs ordering not to park on that road. “Broken or parked car without lighting at night You have to put something meters away that signals that there is something ahead,” he stressed.

Commentators criticized the irresponsibility of drivers who leave disabled vehicles on the road, without signs warning of the danger on the road. Likewise, others do not reduce the intensity of their headlights when they come across another motorized vehicle head on.

Last year, 729 people lost their lives in Cuba as a result of traffic accidents. The authorities counted 8,556 accidents, with 5,938 injuries, during 2023.

The human factor was responsible for 91% of these events, the authorities said. At least “60% of accidents, 48% of deaths and 66% of injuries were caused by not paying attention to vehicle control and not respecting the right of way"said Colonel Roberto Rodríguez, head of the Specialized Traffic Body of the General Directorate of the National Revolutionary Police.
