In September 2022, it was knownthe case of the young Cuban Yemilka Izaguirre Viera, 22, who died in Louisville, Kentucky, allegedly from an overdose; a version that the family rejected while requesting help to investigate his death.

"My sister did not use," he said categorically in a videoYamilka Rodríguez Viera, who requested advice to clarify the circumstances in which the young woman died.

At the time of her death, the young woman lived with her partner, a 30-year-old girl, and was in the process of obtaining her residency. He was also preparing a package with aid for his 4-year-old son, who lived in Cuba in the care of his grandmother.

"They tell us that my sister, with some work friends, was sharing and that she died of an overdose," Rodríguez Viera said incredulously, adding that the day before her death they had talked about the plans she had and how she was focused on her future.
