The Spanish airline World2Fly, operated by the tourism agency DER Touristik CZ, has announced significant changes to its route to Cuba for the 2024/2025 winter season.
Starting next October, the company will cease operations from Prague to the Santa Clara airport, to begin flights to Holguín, reflecting adjustments in demand and market strategies.
The portalAviationline said that this change is part of a broader plan by DER Touristik CZ, which manages the Fischer and Exim tours travel agencies in the Czech Republic, focused on diversifying and enriching its offer of sun and beach destinations.
The agency has confirmed the addition of an Airbus A350-900 with capacity for 432 passengers and an Airbus A330-300 that offers 255 seats in economy class and 30 in business class to accommodate the growing interest in exotic destinations.
Jiří Jelínek, executive director of DER Touristik Eastern Europe, shared encouraging data, where he assures that several sun and beach destinations are working in the Caribbean, among which is Cuba.
"Since October we have taken more than 20,000 customers to these three destinations: Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Vietnam. Airbus A350 flights were full at 95% occupancy. This year, we have seen a doubling increase in exotic destinations and more than 50,000 customers have gone on vacation with us," said Jelínek.
In addition to the new route to Holguín, World2Fly will introduce flights to Puerto Vallarta in Mexico, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic with a stopover in Bratislava, and Phú Quốc in Vietnam, significantly expanding its network of international connections from Prague.
The Cuban government is diversifying its list oftourist issuing markets to Cuba. In addition to working with the Czech Republic, it is promoting the "Cuba Única" campaign in India.
The actions are going ahead with the support of Meliá Hotels International. The island was awarded “Most Promising New Destination” at the OTM Travel Fair 2024 in New Delhi.
