A large fire destroyed the National Supermarket of Hialeah, located at 5400 Palm Ave, near 55th Street.
The city Fire Department reported that on Sunday, at 8:06 pm, they received an emergency call from a witness who reported seeing black smoke coming out of the back of the premises.
Videos shared on the Internet showed that the fire was coming out of the roof of the building.
According to the firefighters, the supermarket had already closed when the fire broke out and there were no injuries.
The first responders who arrived at the scene had to request help, and a second team came to participate in extinguishing the fire; together they managed to do it without the flames spreading to neighboring premises.
The Instagram account Only in Dade revealed that the fire started in the supermarket's kitchen.
However, the official cause of the accident has not yet been reported because the investigation is ongoing. Once the fire was extinguished, the firefighters established surveillance, and this Monday there were still units at the scene.
"The fire is still being worked on in critical areas, and the state fire chief's office still cannot enter and conduct its investigation," the Fire Department told Telemundo 51.
Videos taken this Monday showed that the roof was almost completely destroyed and the interior, with serious damage, seemed practically charred.
In the store, more than a dozen people worked, many of whom had been employed for over ten years.
