In the context of the Cuban migration crisis, a dog adopted in Havana traveled to Spain with her family, who refused to leave her on the island.

This is Frida, a dog who was put up for adoption a few months ago by the organization Cubans in Defense of Animals (CEDA) after being found in poor conditions and at risk of being abandoned by her previous owners.

This Wednesday, that independent organization celebrated that "today Frida is traveling to Spain with her adopter, who is emigrating from the country and did everything necessary for Frida to remain part of their family."

"We couldn't be happier for both," said CEDA in a Facebook post, where they thanked for such a responsible adoption."

"More stories like this!" advocated the organization, in a context where the Cuban migration crisis has resulted in the abandonment of thousands of pets on the island.

Last week, CEDA posted the image of a little dog that was abandoned by its owners before they emigrated, and now spends the day standing at the door of what used to be its home in Havana.

By making this case public, the activists called on Cubans to think about the responsibility of having a pet, "sentient beings" that suffer greatly when they are abandoned.

"The story repeats itself over and over again. People leave the country and leave behind faithful animals, like this little dog who keeps standing by the door of what used to be his home," they lamented.
