There are reports of a fire in an apartment in the 18-story building in Santiago de Cuba.

The fire originated on the sixth floor of the 18-story building on Martí Street in Santiago de Cuba.


A fire in an apartment in the 18-story building on Martí Avenue in Santiago de Cuba occurred on Sunday afternoon.

In images shared by the independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada, the emergency teams had responded to the scene and apparently had the flames under control.

According to the communicator, the affected apartment is apartment B on the sixth floor of this building located on Martí Promenade and Libertadores Avenue in Santiago de Cuba.

The source itself stated that they were unaware of the magnitude of the fire, as well as whether there are injured people or the origin of this incident.

The residents of the building's apartments were evacuated for safety reasons, he added.

Residents of that eastern province said in the comments that the firefighter brigade that came to extinguish the fire was number 4, belonging to the Vista Alegre neighborhood.

In the shared images, it was possible to observe how the smoke was visible from distant areas of the city.

Recently, a house located on Santa Úrsula between 5th and 6th streets in the Reparto Flores neighborhood, also in Santiago de Cuba, suffered a medium-sized fire.

Images published by Mayeta Labrada himself showed the moment when the firefighters extinguished the flames coming out of the interior of the house.

Apparently, there were no injuries although there were material damages, as could be seen in several published photos.
