A Yutong bus overturned on Tuesday on a road in Camagüey, where fortunately there were no fatalities.
Andrés San Román García, member of the Facebook group "BUS & TRUCK ACCIDENTS for more experience and fewer victims!", shared several photos of the overturned bus and some of the passengers.
The incident occurred in the afternoon, 3 km from the municipality of Sibanicú.
"Camagüey heading west, bus skid I believe rented, on wet pavement; only material damages and injured," he said.
Several users confirmed that the bus was rented and agreed that this generally influences the deterioration of vehicles.
827, that was the newest bus Viazul had, always very well taken care of. It operated on a short route, Havana-Varadero. I saw it recently and it made me want to cry, but it was also rented out. A new bus, there are the consequences," lamented an emigrant.
"I do not oppose people fighting and trying to live better, but how can you put an inexperienced driver to handle a bus full of people and luggage on those roads, if they can be called that, to learn with so much at stake. Not everyone is a highway driver," said a resident in Havana.
Others claimed that that stretch of the road is very dangerous, especially when it's wet.
However, a resident in Camagüey stated that he was on the bus and that the driver was not at fault for the accident.
"It was a tourist rental car that overtook him and suddenly stopped in front of the bus, and when the bus hit the brakes because the pavement was wet, it skidded down there," he recounted.
At the beginning of the month, a Transgaviota bus carrying 38 people from Cayo Santa Maria to Abel Santamaria International Airport overturned on the road after being hit by a vehicle at high speed.
The incident occurred in Camajuaní, Villa Clara, resulting in the death of the car driver, who was driving a Moskvitch, and 26 tourists on board the bus were injured, some of them seriously.
An internet user stated that the Moskvitch went off the road, the driver tried to get back on and lost control of the vehicle, crashing at high speed into the bus that was nearly stopped and flipped it over. The man was traveling alone and died instantly.
In mid-May, an interprovincial public transportation bus collided with a horse-drawn carriage traveling at night on the road without lighting.
The bus was covering the Havana-Las Tunas route. The incident occurred at 2:30 am, and fortunately, there were no injuries.
In mid-March, a bus traveling the Baracoa-Santiago de Cuba route was hit by a truck on the La Farola highway in the province of Guantánamo, an accident in which three bus passengers were injured.
According to witnesses, "the truck came on top of the bus" and "the passengers were extracted through the windows" of the vehicle and taken to the municipality of Imías.
