Three injured is the initial toll of a collapse that occurred on Thursday in Havana, where a balcony collapsed onto a cafeteria located in a very central area of El Vedado.

The unfortunate accident occurred at El Tablazo cafeteria, located on 1st Street, between C and D.

According to Carlos Espinosa Betancourt's report in the Facebook group "Maravilloso Malecón," the three injured individuals are being treated at Calixto García Hospital.

The shared images show the fire trucks at the scene, where rescuers were searching through the rubble.

It has not been specified whether the injured individuals were on the detached balcony or in the cafeteria, although it seems they were inside the premises when the structure collapsed on them.

Espinosa Betancourt pointed out that at first glance, the balcony did not seem to be in a bad condition, just like the others in the building.

Two internet users commented on the publication regarding what could be the cause of the collapse.

"Now it is known that the owners had the balcony full of debris sacks, slabs, blocks, because they are under repair, that caused the collapse of the balcony, there is negligence on the part of the owners," said Daniel Pérez Alonso.

She was joined by Ilene Arias González, who added that for the repair of the apartment above, they lifted the floor and filled the balconies with construction materials.
