Images shared by Moreno Enríquez allowed us to see the employees of the state electricity company working at the scene. The complete darkness of General Betancourt street in Alacranes made it difficult to appreciate the magnitude of the collapse in the images taken by the correspondent.

"At the scene, the main political and governmental authorities of the town arrived," Moreno Enríquez pointed out. Rodríguez Vento added that the first secretary of the party in Unión de Reyes, Arlen González Luis, "explained that the homeowner was not inside the house at that time and efforts are now underway to quantify the material damages."

The abundant rains of the last week, combined with the deterioration of many buildings and homes in Cuba, have contributed to the collapse of several properties in western Cuba.

The day before, one person died and two were injured after a wall collapsed and fell onto the roof of a house in the municipality of Cerro in Havana, according to official sources.

The Municipal Administration Council of Cerro reported through Facebook that the unfortunate incident occurred during the early hours on Calzada del Cerro, between Carvajal and Patria.

A social media user mentioned that she was present at the rescue of the injured, who were taken to the nearest hospital thanks to a minibus that was passing by at that time.

Also on Friday, in the morning hours, the top part of a two-story house collapsed, with no injured persons.

The incident occurred in the municipality of Playa, and apparently, the residents of the area had time to evacuate before the situation worsened.

According to a video on social media, the building cracked on one side, and the crack kept getting larger until it eventually caused the collapse of the upper structure of the property.

On Thursday night, three people were injured after a balcony collapsed onto a cafeteria located in a very central area of El Vedado. The unfortunate accident occurred at El Tablazo cafeteria, located on 1st Street, between C and D.

On Tuesday night, a partial collapse occurred in a building located on Monte Street between Águila and Ángeles in Old Havana, leaving one person injured who had to be taken to a hospital in the Cuban capital.

The incident occurred at midnight in the property located at number 427 on Monte Street, according to a post on their social media by the Council of Administration of Old Havana municipality, which erroneously stated that "there were no injuries" in the incident.
