The young Cuban Lester Domínguez, who was attacked with a machete in Holguín last March and has been unable to walk since then, begins a new rehabilitation this Monday, on his birthday.

Lester is at Julio Díaz Hospital in Havana, where he was admitted last week seeking to try new techniques to continue his recovery.

The young man turns 19 this Monday, and according to his father, he is very optimistic.

Lester is thinking that in two months he may be able to start walking, hoping that this faith will come true with the resources available at that hospital, and he tells his followers to take care, that Cuba is currently experiencing a lot of violence and murder, and the laws are very flexible," Dennis said on his Facebook wall.

Lester decided to continue his rehabilitation in Havana after spending a year and three months without being able to take a step. During this time, he has managed to gain more strength in his arms and legs and has regained sensitivity in his whole body. This gives hope to him and his father.

At the end of May, Dennis revealed that he was trying to have him admitted to Julito Díaz to start some therapy that would allow him to walk again.

Back then, the young man asked him to take him out of the country, after realizing that in Cuba there are no conditions for his development.

"The child sees that everything becomes more difficult with the blackout problems in Cuba and does not have the necessary conditions for such development, he tells me that the best way I can help him is by leaving the country," Dennis said.

"We have many relatives abroad and in the end, always left with nothing, so as not to have to beg for help with their recovery, he tells me to try it with Nicaragua. Let's see if I can please him, even if it's the last thing I do in life," he emphasized.

Last year, Lester celebrated his 18th birthday at his house in Holguin, surrounded by friends. At that time, he had a tracheostomy in place and suffered a bedsore on his back that took months to heal, but eventually it healed.

On May 15th, the trial against Adrián Grass Bermúdez, the man who attacked Lester to steal his cell phone, took place.

The prosecution is asking for a 20-year prison sentence for the machete attack on his son and an additional four years for two phones he snatched from other victims, which were recovered, along with Lester's phone, which was found buried in the attacker's backyard.
