"During the passage of natural phenomena such as Hurricane Beryl, parts of the electrical grids are always affected because - mostly consisting of overhead lines - they sustain damage from strong winds and intense rain," the electric company recalled.

In Cabo Cruz, located in the municipality of Niquero in Granma, waves of 1.5 to 2 meters high and winds of 40 kilometers per hour sustained with gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour were recorded.

Hurricane Beryl left at least 10 dead in the Caribbean region after passing through Jamaica on Wednesday, where more than 400,000 residents are without electricity and there are also millions of euros worth of damage to infrastructure.

The victims are reported in Jamaica (1), Grenada (3), Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (3), and Venezuela (3), where there are also five missing persons.

It is expected that the phenomenon will enter on Thursday night or Friday morning through the Yucatan Peninsula, a very touristic area of Mexico.
