Cuban elderly man asks for help to be able to pay rent in Tampa.

It would not be the first time that the community helps the elderly man, who is originally from Guantanamo.

The TikToker Roger Roger (Rogerito81) asked for help for an elderly Cuban man he found begging for money on the street in Tampa.

The elderly person said his name was "Cándido" and he was born in Trinidad, in the province of Sancti Spíritus.

The elderly man receives benefits from Food Stamps, but the assistance is not enough to cover his rent.

He indicated that a year ago, he applied for the program known as Plan 8, the federal rental subsidy that helps low-income individuals pay rent, but so far, he has not been fortunate enough to be a beneficiary.

Roger pointed out that Cándido is usually found in the area around Hillsborough and Havana, in the city of Tampa, and requested that if anyone comes across him, they should not just roll up the car window and should try to help him in some way.

Cándido says he arrived in the United States 15 years ago and worked for 12 years collecting cans and scrap metal. He mentioned that in Cuba, he worked making charcoal.

Last year, the TikToker organized a support group through his profile on the microvideo platform for an elderly man from Guantánamo who was living on the streets in Florida.
