A cloud of smoke that raised the alarm for the residents of Matanzas on Tuesday was caused by a fire in a warehouse of the province's Aqueduct and Sewer Company.

The fire was caused by the burning of some 400-millimeter PAD pipes that were stored in the storage yard of the Municipal Aqueduct of Matanzas, as reported by the government journalist Pedro Rizo Martínez on his Facebook profile.

The pipes were 12 meters long and there were 12 of them. The column of smoke rose immediately over the neighborhood of El Naranjal. "This material is highly flammable," added Rizo Martinez.

Currently, the fire has been completely extinguished, and the facility is operating normally.

On Tuesday morning, a house in Camagüey caught on fire after an electric motorcycle exploded.

The living room of the house was completely burned, and the roof collapsed in the residence located at 585 Pobres Street, between San Esteban and Jaime, in the historic center of the city, as stated by the journalist Henry Constantín.

In addition to destroying the moped, the fire destroyed the gasoline motorbike, which "surely, because it had fuel, increased the pressure," explained.
