With the traditional baptism of the water arch and traditional music, conga, and even women dressed as flamenco dancers at the Abel Santamaría International Airport in Villa Clara, Cuba, the Spanish airline Iberojet inaugurated the Madrid-Santa Clara summer route this Wednesday.
This connection, operated by Ávoris Corporación Empresarial, will be maintained until September 4th and will offer a weekly connection every Wednesday, according to the Europa Press agency.
"This direct flight not only facilitates access to one of the most beautiful and less explored areas of Cuba, but also offers a unique opportunity for travelers seeking an authentic and relaxing experience," commented Gustavo Serrano, commercial director of the tour operation at Ávoris.
"We are excited to be able to bring this wonderful region closer to our clients in Spain," he added in statements published on the digital site agenttravel.es.
According to the airline's website, round-trip tickets are around 700 euros, although many are part of tourist packages.
"Our goal is to provide travel experiences that are both enriching and relaxing," added Serrano, an idea reinforced by Iberojet on the social network X.
The arrival at the main airport of Villa Clara turned into quite a celebration, if we consider the images published on the social network Facebook.
In November 2023, Iberojet announced the cancellation of its flights to Cuba in 2024: "Attention travelers! Iberojet cancels its operations to Cuba and the last flight will be on January 10. If you have a flight booked with us, we recommend calling to verify your ticket and find the best solution for your trip," indicated the agency Viajes On Time.
However, in June, it resumed the route to Santa Clara from Lisbon, Portugal. A total of 384 passengers arrived destined for Cayo Santa María, Cienfuegos, and Trinidad.
Likewise, Iberojet and World2Fly resumed their direct flights between Lisbon and Varadero, the main tourist resort in the Caribbean island, several weeks ago.
