To reach the conclusion of the competition, the Vegueros, leaders of the qualifying stage, defeated the Leones de Industriales 4-2 in the preliminary round, while the Leñadores smashed the hopes of Alazanes de Granma 4-1.
According to the digital site JIT, the local team from Pinar del Río will place their trust in right-handed pitcher Mario Valle, while the visitors will rely on left-hander Eliander Bravo, in a match scheduled for 2:00 PM at the Capitán San Luis stadium, where some tumultuous moments were experienced a few days ago.
The vueltabajeros comfortably dominated the particular subseries (4-1) during the qualifying stage, but the current champions demonstrate in each outing that they know how to play postseason games.
According to the cited publication, Valle played this season against his designated opponents, and the results were not the best, with three earned runs in four innings. Bravo, on the other hand, worked six innings and only allowed one run, although he ended up without a decision.
From an offensive standpoint—something crucial in a league where batting is prominent—the pativerdes will have their inspiring sparks; namely, former Major Leaguer Alexei Ramírez and fellow hitters William Saavedra and Yaser Julio González, among others who have performed well at the home plate.
