It was a 17-year-old teenager and not a woman, as initially reported, who was stabbed last Saturday night at Miami International Airport (MIA), Telemundo 51 said on Monday.

The victim was sitting on the floor of the fourth floor of Terminal J in the Arrivals section when he was stabbed 18 times in several parts of his body, around 11:30 p.m., according to the Miami-Dade Police.

The violent incident caused a disturbance at the airport terminal and ended with the arrest of the attacker, identified as Alexander Love, 29 years old.

Love, in addition to the stabbings, tried to throw him over the railing, but the teenager managed to escape and ran down the stairs to the third floor where he was found by the police officers.

The police authorities transported the victim, who has not been identified, to the Emergency Room of the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where they were reported in critical condition and underwent surgery.

His attacker is in the TGK jail of the county and is facing a charge of attempted murder. This Monday, he was denied bail.

In the arrest report, the attacker revealed that he met the victim at the airport, where he was possibly drugged, and that someone inserted an unknown object into his rectum.

Without being sure if the teenager was responsible for inserting that object, the man stated that he needed to harm whoever did it, so he bought a knife at a nearby store to the airport facility.

However, Miami-Dade police detective Ángel Rodríguez said that "it is considered an isolated incident."
