Trailer house fire leaves a Cuban family homeless in Miami.

In the humble trailer house, only a woman and her 90-year-old mother live. They were saved thanks to the help of the neighbors who noticed the fire.

A devastating fire left the García family homeless in Miami. The tragedy occurred in the early morning of Tuesday when the homeowner was awakened by the screams of her neighbors.

Midalis García, the owner of the affected house, had undergone a knee surgery that day. She arrived home, took some painkillers, and went to sleep. She lives alone with her 90-year-old mother, who suffers from Alzheimer’s. Around 4:00 am, a neighbor woke her up shouting, "Fire, fire!"

Upon opening her eyes, Midalis found her room filled with smoke. Despite being under the effects of the tranquilizers, she managed to leave her room just before a window shattered.

"Thank God, because if I had been inside, the fire would have come toward me," Midalis told AmericaTeVe Miami.

"Then I grabbed the hose, opened it to full force, and started to put out the fire. I shouted to my neighbors to also turn on hoses or throw buckets of water," said the affected person.

The mobile home, located in a trailer park in the area of 127th Avenue and 9th Street Southwest, in Tamiami, sustained considerable damage.

Midalis has lived there for 25 years, and after the fire, she has nowhere else to go. "The firefighters wanted to tear down the walls, but I refused. I told them this was the only thing I had, and no," she explained.

The neighbors of Midalis have been a great support. They helped clear the debris and have taken care of her, weak from her operation, and her mother. However, the material losses total thousands of dollars, and the family needs costly repairs that they cannot afford.

The authorities are investigating the causes of the fire, although a neighbor claims to have seen the explosion of an electric bike charger. Fortunately, there were no human casualties to mourn.

To help the García family, a GoFundMe page has been created, where anyone can make a donation and contribute to the recovery of their home.
