The Cuban-American actor Ángel Salazar, known for his role as Chi Chi in the iconic film "Scarface" (1983), passed away at the age of 68 in New York.
The news was confirmed by his representatives on Monday, August 12, who reported that Salazar died on Sunday in a friend's apartment in New York.
The exact causes of his death have not been revealed, but it is known that the actor had heart problems, according to his representative, Roger Paul.
Salazar, who was also a comedian, had shown good health until early August, when he performed his last show at the Silver Legacy Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
His unexpected passing has caused shock among his colleagues, such as Tito Puente Jr., who expressed his sorrow on social media, remembering him as a great actor and friend.
Born in Cuba in 1956, Salazar escaped the country by swimming across Guantánamo Bay to the United States naval base, and later settled in New York.
In addition to "Scarface" alongside Al Pacino, Ángel participated in films such as "Punchline" (1988) and "Carlito’s Way" (1993), solidifying his legacy in the film industry.
