The woman, named Miriam Rodríguez Arias, resides in San José de las Lajas, Mayabeque, and had disappeared on the beach of Guanabo, east of Havana.

The family filed a complaint with the police.

"The report was made at the Guanabo Police Station. She has senile dementia, completely harmless. Since Friday, August 23, we have not known where she is," explained the young Marian Yin Rodríguez on Facebook, who has already deleted the original post from her profile.

In recent days, several cases of female disappearances have been reported in the country.

Eighteen-year-old Yilena Cepeda, who had been outside her home for a week in Santiago de Cuba, was found safe and sound on Friday, under circumstances that were not disclosed.

Kiara González, 23 years old, who was missing in Havana, also appeared alive.

People with mental illnesses often go missing in Cuba.

For more than two weeks now, a young woman with disabilities named Claudia, 27 years old and a resident of a community in Baraguá, Ciego de Ávila, has been missing.

Even more serious is the case of Mabel García Corrales, of whom nothing has been known since June 30.

The 54-year-old woman lives in Ciego de Ávila and is suffering from a nervous condition, and like many Cubans with that illness, she is not taking any medication due to the scarcity present in the country.
