The injured continue to recover after the accident at the Cienfuegos Cement factory.

All the workers retain the medical condition with which they were admitted to the hospital.

The four workers who remain hospitalized at the Gustavo Aldereguía Lima Hospital in the city of Cienfuegos, following the spill of materials in one of the hoppers at the Cement factory in that area, are continuing to recover, although one of them remains in critical condition.

"According to the days they have already been here, today is the fourth day, their burns and injuries are stable," said Dr. Josefa Castellanos Alfonso, a Second Degree specialist in Burns and Plastic Surgery, to the official Channel Caribe.

The doctor noted that they are keeping a closer watch on the critically ill patient. There is "a bit of caution with him, because he is a patient who could experience some complications at any moment; so far, he hasn't, and he remains stable," the specialist pointed out.

Francisco Díaz Urquiza, 60 years old, who is reported to be very serious with 24% burns, expressed his gratitude for the medical attention received so far and for his coworkers.

"We cannot ask for more with us and with the family as well, and I am grateful that we have a good, strong medical team to rely on, and my colleagues who come to see us despite my relatives, and those who can't come are because they are working or dealing with their own problems that each Cuban has, but everyone sends me hugs and tells me to stay strong, that we will get out of here," he declared to the official media.

Dionel Figueroa Calunga, 52 years old, is the injured person who is in a state of extreme critical condition and has 70% burns on his body.

On Wednesday, the fifth injured person in the accident was discharged. His name is Alexei Aguilar Valdés, 53 years old, who had burns on 5% of his body and was able to return home after receiving treatment.

Several colleagues of those affected made blood donations recently due to the shortage in Cuban hospitals.

"We have needed some blood derivatives, but really the response from our colleagues has been very good, and the patients know it because we have told them, and that has made them very happy," emphasized Dr. Soraya Izaguirre Hernández, head of the burn unit at the Gustavo Aldereguía Hospital in an earlier report.

On Tuesday afternoon, an explosion occurred at the Carlos Marx Cement Factory in Cienfuegos, resulting in one worker dead, five injured, and three others trapped, presumably because the explosion caused the collapse of a hopper that trapped them until firefighters rescued them.

The deceased was identified as Raymundo Narciso Sarría, 61 years old, who worked as a Cuban electrician for the Engineering Construction Company No. 6 (Ecoing-6).

Ernesto Gálvez, production director of the Cienfuegos cement factory, explained that "at 2:05 p.m., the flour hopper of the electrofilter of kiln three collapsed. This collapse caused a spill of hot flour, which led to the unwanted accident."

"We are still investigating the cause of the events, of the collapse of the hopper," added the executive, who took the opportunity to clarify that there was no explosion of a boiler.
