A 13-year-old Cuban teenager who had been missing since Wednesday in Havana has been located by her family. The minor is safe and sound, according to a source close to the girl revealed on social media.

The teenager - identified as Dariana Hoyos Correa and residing in Cojímar, in the municipality of Habana del Este - was found in Regla, but no further details about the circumstances of her discovery have emerged.

"To all my friends and family, thank you for your concern, for the help. I just spoke with Carmen, and it seems the girl has been found. I don't know more because she is going to the address they gave her to confirm. Thank you truly," wrote the internet user identified as "Arlet Oni Yemayá" on Facebook.

"Unfortunately, parents sometimes do not have 100% control over our children, and even when we do, they do things that take away our lives..." added the source, who stated that she was speaking as a mother but also as someone who was a teenager herself once.

As of the closing of this report, no other details about the case have emerged.

Recently, reports of missing persons in Cuba have become frequent, causing concern among families, who desperately turn to social media for help in locating their loved ones due to the lack of an official channel to make these cases visible.

Due to the absence of a police protocol and an early alert system for the disappearance of minors, feminist platforms established the "Alerta Mayde," in order to help find missing minors in Cuba.

That alert was created following the disappearance in May 2021 of the teenager Maydeleisis Rosales Rodríguez in Havana; a minor who unfortunately, three years later, is still missing.
