A man who was seen aiming a rifle from a balcony in a Miami Beach condominium was arrested by the police.

Police officers and members of the SWAT team responded on Friday afternoon to the 1200 block of West Avenue, near the Mondrian Hotel, after several 911 calls reported a man on his balcony pointing a rifle at other buildings and passersby.

The officers established a perimeter and closed traffic on West Avenue, between 11th and 13th Streets.

Aerial images showed a strong police presence and SWAT teams monitoring the area as they attempted to contact the suspect.

Finally, the subject surrendered after a negotiation.

The cameras showed a man in a sleeveless white t-shirt being handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol car.

The spokesperson for the Miami Beach Police, Chris Bess, later revealed that the detainee may be going through some type of medical crisis and will be subjected to the Baker Act or temporarily detained for a mental health evaluation. His identity was not disclosed.

The incident did not cause any injuries.
