Brutal attack on the owner of paladares in Santiago de Cuba

Violent attack in Dos Caminos. The owner of a paladar was severely injured. The causes of the incident are still under investigation.

The province of Santiago de Cuba has become the scene of a new violent incident, a brutal attack on the owner of some paladares in the community of Dos Caminos, belonging to the municipality of San Luis.

Independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta confirmed that on the night of Saturday, Arsenio Figueroa Betancourt, known in the town as "El Milloneta," was attacked with machetes, for reasons that have not yet been clarified.

Figueroa is the owner of two bar-paladares in the area, which has made him a figure of relatively economic influence in the community.

The versions about the causes of this attack are contradictory. Some sources suggest that it may have been related to debts that Figueroa did not want to settle.

Other rumors point to a recent conflict he had with sugar sellers, after a dispute in which the latter allegedly went to his home to demand accountability.

So far, none of these versions have been confirmed, and local authorities are investigating the details of the incident.

The victim's health condition has not been officially revealed, although images shared on social media show serious injuries on their body.

The unfortunate event has generated a wave of concern in the community, and neighbors fear that violence will continue to increase in the region.
