No injured person is in life-threatening condition.

A traffic accident left five people injured on Thursday, including a pregnant woman, when a passenger transport truck covering the Havana-Santiago de Cuba route lost control after a tire exploded and overturned.

The incident occurred on the Central Highway, near Guáimaro, Camagüey, and about 30 passengers were traveling on the truck, according to a report from local television.

The doctor confirmed that all those affected have mild injuries, but they were still subjected to rigorous examinations.

The pregnant patient was attended to by the gynecology and obstetrics services and is stable, as is her baby, the report detailed.

The poor condition of the roads and the vehicle fleet are a frequent cause of accidents on the island.

Just two days ago, another passenger bus carrying mostly children and teenagers crashed into a machine, after which it let all the passengers off and fled the scene.
