The Latinoamericano Stadium in Havana was the setting for an exhibition day where Cuban baseball players showcased their skills to international scouts from baseball leagues in Japan, Italy, and Venezuela.

The scouts, which included Kenta Hagiwara and Yuichi Matsumoto from the SoftBank Hawks of Japan; and Fabio Beti from Bologna and Elías Saba from the La Guaira Sharks of Venezuela, were invited by the Cuban Federation of the discipline to evaluate local talents with an eye towards future professional signings.

During the Saturday session, players from Havana and members of the national preselection, who are preparing for the Premier 12 tournament scheduled for next month in Mexico, Chinese Taipei, and Japan, had the opportunity to showcase their skills.

According to the agency Prensa Latina, the athletes participated in various events that included 60-yard dash races and home-to-first base runs, power swing demonstrations, and throws from the infield and outfield.

Training matches were also held, while this Sunday the talents from the remaining provinces will showcase themselves to foreign scouts.

Without a doubt, as in 2023, this initiative represents a valuable opportunity for young Cuban baseball players to pave their way in international professional baseball.
