In a late official statement, the Cuban Institute of Music (ICM) spoke out this Saturday about the shooting that has left reggaeton artist El Taiger in a life-and-death situation in Miami.

After admitting that they knew about the news since the very day it happened, October 4, the ICM waited more than 48 hours to describe the incident as a "regrettable event."

They also state that together with the Musicalia Agency of Artex, they have provided "ongoing monitoring of the artist's health, which remains critical, with a reserved prognosis."

"In the coming days, we will continue to provide information through this channel regarding such a sensitive issue. We wish for the swift recovery of this young musician, who has not renounced his nationality or his love for Cuba," they concluded.

As expected, in the comments section alongside wishes for recovery for the reggaeton artist, some internet users reacted incredulously to the slowness with which the ICM has responded.

On Facebook, journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso also briefly touched on the topic and expressed hopes for the recovery of the injured artist.

"That El Taiger lives is the wish of thousands of Cubans inside and outside of Cuba, and mine as well. Life above all and also respect for his family," he wrote while sharing on his profile on the mentioned social network an article on the topic initially published by Trabajadores and later replicated by Cubadebate.

In its digital edition on Saturday, Trabajadores published a brief article signed by Joel García León, the director of that media outlet, who blamed the "violent society" in the United States for incidents like the one involving José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar (El Taiger).

The investigation into the incident in which the Cuban reggaeton artist was shot in the head is still ongoing.

Several hundred Cubans, both inside and outside the island, have now participated in various public manifestations of solidarity with the author of Habla matador.
