Guantanameros take to the streets to demand the recovery of El Taiger.

While some support the gesture, others question why people do not go out to demand freedom and protest against the lack of food and power outages.

Hundreds of people in Guantánamo took to the streets on Saturday night in honor of El Taiger, who remains hospitalized in critical condition after being shot in the head last Thursday.

The Facebook portal "Cuba actu" shared a video showing a crowd, mostly composed of young people, walking down the middle of an avenue while singing.

The initiative has raised controversy. While some support the gesture, others question why people are not going out to demand freedom and protest against the lack of food and the blackouts.

"My comment has nothing to do with that man; as a human, I hope he improves and can get out of that trance. But I cannot overlook the whole demonstration; however, they are not doing it to have a better life: Hunger, blackouts, abuses. Idol worship is destroying them," said an elderly woman.

"Hold a march against that incapable government that has plunged the country into chronic underdevelopment and has caused the massive exodus of our youth in search of a promising future. I am truly convinced that the PCC has fried the brains of Cubans, the country is in blackout, children and the elderly lack food and medicine, there is no public transportation, and they are unable to mobilize to protest," a young man stated.

"Stop with that cheap politics, that parade is for an artist, a musician beloved by Cuba, and he is in critical health," said a woman from Avile.

"Right now, the biggest and most popular artist that Cuba has in any genre," said a person from Havana.

"If our ancestors the mambises saw what they gave their lives for, they would never have raised their machete. Homeland, life, and freedom," commented another.

"He's an idol, you have an entire country, buddy, crying for you; wake up, buddy, so you can see how your Cuba is calling for you," requested an internet user.

"I am the first who wants him to be saved because he is a human being. I hope God puts His hand on it, but it's outrageous how all of Cuba has manifested for him and not for an improvement, they themselves who have blackouts instead of outages and do not take to the streets in that way. That's why we are as we are," assured another.

"He sowed love and is now reaping love," emphasized a third person.

Cubans in several provinces of the country organized vigils for Saturday night for the recovery of popular reggaeton artist José Manuel Carvajal, better known as El Taiger.

In Cienfuegos, the population was called to gather at 8:00 pm in Parque Martí, in front of the church, to pray for the health of the artist and to ask for the freedom of political prisoners in Cuba.

In Santiago de Cuba, there was confusion regarding the exact location of the vigil, with different proposals to hold it at the Plaza de Marte, the Ferreiro Park, or the Alameda.

In Cárdenas, a support event for the popular artist was also announced.

In Havana, there was already one held on Friday at the intersection of 23 and Malecón, where dozens of people gathered to pray for the singer's health.

Among the participants was Johayron, known as "Rutina," a very popular child on social media, who thrilled those present by singing spiritual and santería songs.
