The UJC comments on the death of El Taiger: "Rest in peace, Cuban."

"Let's hope that Lis Cuesta pays tribute to Taiger in Cuba," commented an internet user with irony.

The Union of Communist Youth of Cuba (UJC) spoke out about the death of reggaeton artist José Manuel Carvajal Zaldívar (El Taiger), who was in critical condition after being shot in the head on October 3 in Miami.

"Rest in peace, Cuban," was the brief message shared by the organization after learning of the singer's death.

El Taiger, 36 years old, was pronounced dead this Thursday at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, where he had been admitted for a week.

"Now he has reunited with his beloved mother in heaven," noted an official statement published on his Instagram account. His cousin and director of Los Cuatro, Jorge Junior, stated that the event occurred at 12:40 pm.

The UJC's publication generated disbelief among some internet users, astonished to see that the organization that theoretically brings together young communists in Cuba reacted publicly to the death of an artist who openly expressed his rejection of the regime.

"Let's hope that Lis Cuesta pays tribute to Taiger in Cuba," commented a Cuban resident in Florida sarcastically.

"But the UJC too?! I don't understand anything that's happening with you all..." a worker from the Instituto Superior de Arte stated.

"And what does being Cuban have to do with it? This is the height of it. What a huge worm he was. We're off to a bad start...!" protested a regime supporter.

"He wished for a military invasion of Cuba, offended Fidel, Raúl, and the President, all of which was redeemed by facing Otaola," questioned another.

The UJC is not the only government institution that states it regrets the tragic end of El Taiger.

The Cuban Institute of Music (ICM) sent its "sincere condolences" to the family, friends, and fans of the singer, whom it described as "one of the most recognized figures in the urban genre."

"He did not renounce his status as a Cuban and always expressed love for his country," said the organization.

"The Cuban institutions provided ongoing monitoring of his health status and supported his closest relatives in the consular processing for the application of a humanitarian visa at the United States embassy in Havana," he added.
