To support relief efforts following the devastating passage of hurricanes Milton and Helene, singer Taylor Swift donated 5 million dollars to the organization Feeding America.
The organization announced this Wednesday on Instagram the generous donation, originally thanking Taylor Swift's contribution with an image in the shape of a friendship bracelet, an iconic accessory among her fans at concerts.
Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America, expressed her gratitude for the donation, stating: “This contribution will help communities rebuild and recover by providing essential food, clean water, and supplies to those affected by these devastating storms.”
In the same way, he also encouraged Swift's followers to join the efforts to help those affected by both hurricanes.
The organization highlighted in its statement the importance of collaboration, stating: "Together, we can make a real impact by supporting families as they face the challenges ahead," emphasizing the need to join efforts to help the affected communities.
Swift has a long history of donations to charitable organizations after natural disasters or tragic events, such as the tornado that struck Tennessee in 2020 and the shooting that occurred in February 2024 during the victory parade of the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl, reported NBC Miami.
Her philanthropic relationship with food banks was also strengthened during her Eras tour, where the singer donated the equivalent of hundreds of thousands of meals to various food banks in the cities she performed in.
The actors Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, close friends of the singer, also contributed 1 million dollars to Feeding America to support the victims of the hurricanes, the cited news portal indicated.
On Wednesday, Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida as a Category 3 storm, adding to the suffering of a coast that is still recovering from the impact of Hurricane Helene.
The powerful cyclone, now a category 1, is moving away from the east coast of Florida, leaving behind a significant trail of damage and at least 12 fatalities.
