Dozens of followers of José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar (El Taiger) gathered outside Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami to pay tribute to the Cuban artist, who was declared dead this Thursday after being found shot in the head a week ago.
A report from Univisión 23 showed that the place where it was found has become an improvised memorial.
Candles, stuffed animals, and flowers decorate the space, while the fans, visibly emotional, remember the artist.
The samples of support and tribute have not stopped throughout the day, with people of all ages arriving to pay their respects to the musician, noted the report from Univisión 23.
Among those present, a fan mentioned that her favorite song was “El Hilito Rojo,” and that what happened with El Taiger “is a tragedy for the Cuban people.”
"What happened to him is not fair, this is hard to believe," said one of his followers, tears in their eyes, recalling the influence and legacy that El Taiger leaves in Cuban music.
"Her death will not be in vain," asserted another person, urging that justice be served.
The Miami police have urged anyone with information about Damian Valdez, a person of interest in the case, to contact authorities.
The community continues to await answers, while the pain from the loss of El Taiger remains palpable among his followers, who vow not to forget his legacy.
The tribute to El Taiger has not been limited to the improvised memorial outside the Jackson Memorial Hospital.
This Thursday, several Cuban artists also paid tribute to him on social media, sharing emotional messages to remember the deceased singer.
The popular Cuban orchestra Los Van Van, on its account on the social network X, expressed sorrow over his passing and recalled that they shared the stage several times with what they called an "tireless warrior."
The reggaeton artist Oniel Bebeshito, who starred alongside El Taiger in some of the latest musical hits of the Cuban urban genre, expressed his feelings on social media following the confirmation of "La Tranka's" death.
"In a black and white world, you were a color in my personal life and in my career, my brother. Wherever you are, I want you to know that an entire country had faith until the last minute," he said on Instagram.
The Cuban singer Alexander Delgado, member and founder of Gente de Zona, shared his deep sorrow on social media: “In shock and with a broken heart hearing the news since last Thursday until today.”
After the news of El Taiger's passing was confirmed, the Cuban Institute of Music sent its "sincere condolences" to the family, friends, and admirers of the singer in a note published on its Facebook profile.
"We bid farewell to one of the most recognized figures of the urban genre, who did not renounce his Cuban identity and always expressed love for his country," says the text.
